Introduction

This type of String can be used to create sampling of surfaces for output of Long Sections and Cross Sections.

A String includes the following:

Once a String is created, this command lets users publish Profile View and Cross Section information for the string, referencing the surface selected.  Other surfaces can be displayed at the time of plotting.

The station display of information along the profile view, and what cross sections are shown, is dependent on the geometry of the alignment and the String sampling selected.  All horizontal geometry points are automatically shown on the profile view and used for setting which cross sections to display.

Once created, the Profile String can be accesed from the Toolspace under the Profile String object collection.

Note: String elevations will be set to adopt the selected surface at each sampled section.

Details

Upon selecting the command the following form is displayed:

Template

Default is None (no template).
Select a Template to attach to the String if desired.
Click on the icon to the right of the picklist to open the Template editor.

Sampled Surface

Select a surface to reference for String elevations.

Elevation Adjustment

Type in a value to set the String elevations a fixed distance above or below the Sampled Surface.

Sample Rate

Sets the sampling along the String.  The sampling is used for establishing sections and is used for display of profile view information and cross sections

  Tangent

Distance along the tangents to sample the string.

  Arc

Distance along arcs to sample the string.

  Spiral

Distance along spirals to sample the string.

Section Widths

Surface information is extracted and stored on the sections.  This sets the width left and right to store surface data

  Left

Distance left of the alignment (positive to the left) to store surface elevations.

  Right

Distance right of the alignment (positive to the right) to store surface elevations.

Create/Update String

Create the String.
